Instrument making and repair
Fine hand-built master instruments - at fair prices - are master violin-maker Jürgen Klier's speciality. His violins, violas and cellos are valued by professionals throughout the world. After all, it is the beauty and quality of his instruments - in combination with their excellent sound characteristics - that make each instrument a special joy to hold and play.
Training and prices
Jürgen Klier learned his craft in Bubenreuth, Franconia, the centre of German bowed and plucked string instrument making. After passing his master craftsman's examination he started his own business. He soon built up a reputation. As early as 1986 he won the gold medal in the "violin" category of the III German violin-makers' competition of the Georg Hesse Foundation. In 1989 he won the honorary prize of the Italian violin-makers' association "Cremona" at the international violin-makers competition in Mittenwald.
Master-built violins, violas and cellos
Jürgen Klier builds violins, violas and cellos ranging from reasonably priced students' models to the high-quality master instrument for top-class playing. Quality and individuality are his foremost aims. All pieces are personally built by the master himself and are based on the famous Stradivari and Guarneri violins. The instruments are constructed from tonewoods with excellent sound characteristics which have been naturally seasoned for between 10 and 20 years. High-quality varnishes give the violins and violas their exquisite appearance. The result is select hand-crafted instruments either with an antique or modern surface-finish. Jürgen Klier works closely with professional musicians in the ongoing control and optimization of the sound of his violins.
Expert repair
In addition to building instruments, Jürgen Klier also performs expert repairs - even on instruments of other builders. So that treasured instruments again give joy to their owners.
